But being able to shift from one thing to another rapidly means that I can accomplish two things at a time by alternating my attention between the two so there is an illusion that I am multitasking and ultimatly what is the diffrence between this near multitasking and ture multitasking?

For me, thanks two fraternity brothers at Psi of Psi Upsilon at Hamilton College, Simon and James, I have found that the plasticity of the braon allows one to train themselves to muti-task.
It's a simple, and as difficult, as driving a standard transmission or playing a piece on a musical instrument. You simply cannot "get" learning how to use a stick shift in one day, even though you may become the next A.J. Foyt. When I really attempt to "multi-task" - I get even more dyslexic and have to go back anyway to fix my errors.

Do one thing - do it well - move on - next, works for me. It's hard, though, because we are always in such a hurry. Very, very interesting Clip - thanks!

Jorjor -

"best" was a word which ought to have been modified by a huge IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

Reason I think Pat is better - stress on I THINK - Pat can sound and write like Robert. Robert couldn't do Metheny, and would snootily say "I wouldn't want to."

But ya know, we're talking Liszt versus Chopin I think, with FRIPP the former parallel and PAT a modern Chopin. Do you have his portfolio? The harmonic modulations (redundant, I know) are, as Chopin's were, simply out of nowhere and once heard sound as they they'd written themselves. Fripp to me is as a Liszt or Zappa or Schoenberg or Chick Corea: way way better 'chops' than Metheny, but no one with both a mastery of playing, understa...
