With a little bit more thought, the green roof could also provide some homegrown food??? Really depends upon the design of the house.

Hopefully, that will mean more land for habitat, biodiversity and the proliferation of other species that share this planet with us??? I came across this interesting article, I am not sure I agree with everything yet, there is much that makes me "try to see" more deeply.

Tanks for the link celestialdancer. This guy makes some very important points methinks.

Its all too easy to get aboard a bandwagon, because it creates the illusion that one is actually doing something. Sort of like the dog guarding the front door of the hen house .... meanwhile the fox is carrying the chickens out the back door.

We need to be become better stewards of this our home (earth), and that of course includes global warming.

I'm not very enamored with the "lets-colonize-space" crowd, which in my not so humble opinion is, or at least could become, a dangerous form of escapism. It already has a giant lobby group, ensuring the sucking sound of cash disappearing into the maw of the space industry AKA socialism for the well-connected, and the defense industry

I am with you on that one socratoad. I don't believe colonizing space will solve anything either. "Escapism" is a good term.

Interesting article link, celestialdancer! Did you see me clip "could food shortages bring down civilisation". Alarming, isn't it? More food, less water, less food!
