I hope everyone does read it - so then they can make up their mind whether they believe it or not.

Someone once asked me if I believed in the bible. I said, "I believe it exists; I've read it, in more than one language. It doesn't run my life."

I once read an account of some missionaries who had returned from a trip to the Amazon jungles. One of them said, "It's hard to teach the bible to people who don't have words for war, murder or sin." He was puzzled; I thought he was, well, pathetic isn't the word I really want, but I can't think of the right one just now.
