MONTREAL - In one of her final blog posts, a Canadian woman living in Mexico wrote warmly about the humorous stories of a kind fisherman named Jose.

On Thursday, 10 days later after that blog entry, Renee Wathelet was stabbed to death in her condo on the tranquil, tropical island she had recently adopted as her home.
