My mother has been diagnosed with senile dementia. Her entire life, she rarely has consumed 2 to 3 glasses (8 oz.) of any fluid a day. I understand this, as she grew up without indoor plumbing. An outhouse is a dark, scary place for a child full of spiders/bugs. She learned early on to restrict fluids, thereby, not having to visit the outhouse. We're trying to get her to drink more fluids, but its like beating your head against a brick wall.
