Um...., the Book of Revelation was written at least 500 years before Islam was founded. Oops.

Well, he may not be the anti-Christ, but he is an A-rab and a Moozlem.

The REAL Napster
Ignorance is truly bliss to some

Even more surprisingly, more than a few of the Pakistanis we spoke with were convinced that Obama is Muslim because his middle name is "Hussein," and therefore believe he may be more sympathetic to Pakistan if he were president.

"Barack Obama is for Muslims," said Osman Ali, an 18-year-old high school student in Islamabad. "I am sure he will withdraw U.S. forces from our borders and that’s why I hope he will win." Nazim Hussain, a medical student, echoed Ali. "Obama will not be like Bush," he said. "Bush had an aggressive policy towards Muslims and I’m sure that Obama will ...

Seems like a plausible question to ponder given that most libs swoon over the Dhali-Bama as if he is their Messiah...

The urban legend Web site Snopes.com first exploded the myth in March.

MAn, is he behind the times. If he'd gotten that chain-letter passed along before Snopes cleareed this up, well,...then his ponderings would have been quite reasonable.
Man! I'm SO glad we have Snoppes or we'd be afraid to wander too close to the earth's edge!

If fawning praise for one's candidate is reason enough to label him the anti-christ, then we've already had the anti-christ in the White House for the last 8 years. Sheesh. How soon we forget.

Yeah, makin' shit up, saying lefties hate America, and we wanna abort babies and eat them for lunch while sipping latte's and reading the New York Times. Since I disagree with Bush/McCain/Palin I am disrespectful, unpatriotic, and want to destroy America. I wanna kill my parents, my siblings, my 13 nieces and nephews, all my friends and their families, and the old lady down the street -- all cuz I disagree with the policies and views of Bush/McCain/Palin. Disagreement does not equal disrespect. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so absurd.

Dude, you are not a member of tribe, that is all there is to it. You stray off the nutty reservation and wham, target practice. It is not judgment or morality based on what you do, but on who you are. It explains a lot of things.

I have no idea what you are trying to say, ratilfar, or to whom you're saying it. Doesn't mean it's not valid, I just don't get it. Care to elaborate? Thanks.

It was meant for you keeth, sorry if I did not make that clear enough. What you are seeing above is pure tribalism. Attacks based not on facts, logic or reason but on "who" you are, not "what" you do, that is if you happen to be a member of the tribe then you are alright regardless of the merits of your arguments, the morality of your actions, etc. If you happen to disagree with the shared view of the tribe then you are an outcast, worthy of scorn and attack.

Take for example torture. The members of the tribe say that it is not torture, because a) "we" don't torture, and b) because "they" deserve it. Mutually exclusive statements. Perhaps, but if you see through the tribal lens it makes per...

This is from a wiki, but I think it illustrates the point:

The other concept to which the word tribalism frequently refers is the possession of a strong cultural or ethnic identity that separates oneself as a member of one group from the members of another....
This fact is often cited as evidence that tribal peoples saw only the
members of their own tribe as "people," and denigrated all others as
something less. In fact, this is a tenuous conclusion to draw from the
evidence. Many languages refined their identification as "the true
people," or "the real people," dehumanizing the other people or simply considering them i...

Ok, now I gotcha. Yup, been seeing that since Bush 2000. It's always funny to see someone who disagrees with you say something like, "well, then, if you believe X, then you probably do Y and you probably believe Z as well." And they really think the stories they have created in their heads about people they do not agree with are absolutely true. It's farcical.

I should add that people of all political persuasions are guilty of this. I don't mean to imply it's only a problem with the right. It is most certainly a problem on the left, and the center, and up above, down below, and up your poop chute, too.

Sure. People become infatuated with political figures, religious dogma, philosophies and the like.

(See reaction to Clinton's loss, obsession with "Big Dog" Clinton, or the elevation of Reagan to political sainthood).

But the one thing that the Right has successfully marketed in the last quarter of the 20th century is this cocoon of ideas and concepts that propels them forward. It seems to win elections, but it is a lousy way to govern.

At least Reagan and Bush Sr. knew that it was a political tool. Bush Jr. and the current crop of Republicans simply believe their own propaganda.
