Clinton dropped the ball way back then and many of today's world events are due to this. They say hindsight is 20/20. After reading this you should have a good grasp of where we were headed way back then, and why, we are where we are today. wow....so few comments? I guess the truth really does hurt some doesn't it. I am actually getting kinda numb about the whole shebang. Anymore its either politics or religion that has everyone all uppity and the good clips like this one get lost in the haze. Most of my internet time is spent at clipmarks anymore. I have become so accustomed to seeing these headlines it makes me reel with nausea. When a worthy one comes along I often miss it or just glaze over and scan for something new. I depend on the comments to filter the jist of the clip for me. I say to other clippers to give this a read, it is a worthy clip and very poppable. Well I think its because the "Blame it all on Clinton" meme is kind of old, is inaccurate and incomplete. In fact you clip something that shows that Clinton was doing something about al-Qaeda. If it where a clip about his administration doing nothing, I would understand but this... Doing something poorly is as bad as not doing anything. And it really shows that the O.B.L. and the 'war on terror' problem has been one long before 9/11, the current presidency or any 'blame games' people try to pass off on the administration for not stopping O.B.L. I'm actually very surprised at your comment- you are usually very objective and to not see the parallel to current history is surprising still. Could Clinton done more? Hell yes. But I think you have to put the whole thing into perspective, and it really goes back to Carter/Reagan and the Soviet invasion back in 1979. Somebody (Zbigniew Brzezinski) in the Carter administration thought that they could push the Russians into their own Vietnam, and the the Reagan administration (which included Robert Gates as second in command at the CIA) decided that the only good commie was a dead commie so more weapons where sent to an already war torn country (including British made Blowpipes and American Stingers). Then the error was compounded by Bush(1st)/Clinton when they did not follow through in Afghanistan handing the mess to the Pakistanis... That's a better response, thanks! Details are always welcomed in one's comments.  Yet thru all of this the USA's air war is the real terrorist campain in Afghanistan...Many more thousands of innocent Afhanis have died and suffered than anything close to 9/11. Who speaks here for those people but me, over and over--are ya tired of it or just ignorant. And the bombs keep falling on weddings and markets to kill 3 or 12 "suspected militants" and kill 40 or 90 civilians...er, collaterals. Hypocrties. |
