				<DIV class="photoDescription" id="description_div132600641"><DIV>Mecca was one of favorite students at Pacific High School. Gifted and talented in math, logic, art, graphics, mechanics, basketball and rap, she was equally defiant towards the status-quo and made her thoughts known often.</DIV>

At what seemed like the height of 'gangsta rap', Mecca blew the competition away at a school rap contest. Words flowed from her like Victoria Falls.</DIV>

After she graduated I brought her into Black Betty and The Stinger Club in Williamsburg for open mic/free style nights. Soon she left for Atlanta burgeoning music scene.</DIV>

So it was to my surprise last night when I went to see her preform with <A href="http://www.slackrep.com">her band</A> and got a <A href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24-7_Spyz">24-7 Spyz</A>/<A href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Brains">Bad Brains</A> flashback from the girl who turned me onto <A href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mos_Def">Mos Def</A>. </DIV>
