They have the right to be foolish and refuse the shot, but I hope they're held professionally and financially responsible when their lack of immunization makes them a vector or carrier for H1N1. H1N1 is nothing to be scared of, but part of being a healthcare worker is to do whatever is necessary to keep from being the source of a primary or nosocomial infection. That means getting the shot. Now, maybe if they lived in a nation with socialized medicine where you could trust the purity and efficacy of the the injections, there might not be this concern. Commercial Medicine always takes shortcuts for greater profits. |
