I forgot to add my two cents about a great candidate I have been researching. Ron Paul.

Heh...

Of course, if you find God hates the same people you do, you may have created Him in your own image...

FUKTradio: So far I've been fairly impressed with Ron Paul, having seen him speak at a few places (on the toob). And his voting record certainly appears decent in comparison to candidates on either side.

Ron Paul so far has impressed me. Unfortunately I wonder if he has a chance at all. Public opinion may have swung way away from republicans for the moment so even if he did manage to win the republican nomination he might not have much chance. On the other hand, the failure of the recently elected democrats to halt the war and make changes that they campaigned on just might swing it back for him if people can look past their recent anger at the republican party and take an honest look at the nominees.

I've always considered myself open minded about electing officials that have the skills to do the job and not going brain dead over party politic voting - however even I have a flinch reaction...

Oortcloud -

Good posting, good points.

Almost a sidebar item: my ass has a tendency to pinch shut at the mindgame of who has a chance. Sometimes the whole game has the appearance of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Personally, like you, I'd rather vote for whoever I think is the best candidate. Naturally I wish everyone did, just to negate the ill effects of the mindgame.

That author's knowledge of the Christian God is surprisingly quite poor.

You might want to re-read the clip again, specifically this part :
God -- and I'm talking about the wrathful, Old Testament Lord, not Jesus or the Holy Ghost
(Emphasis mine)

God is Jesus and the Holy Ghost and He never changes.
