vk2yoc says: If you have an interest in this stuff, you need to go to the website and read all three pages, if you think you really exist, that is. "One of these, locality or realism, must be fundamentally incorrect." "Anyone who is not shocked by quantum theory has not understood it." Niels Bohr. "No, no, you're not thinking, you're just being logical." Niels Bohr. "We all agree that your theory is crazy, but is it crazy enough." Niels Bohr. i think i exist...what do you guys think? It depends on what one means by "exist". When you point a camera at people, most especially those who live in a high-tech or modern society, they are influenced by the observation....1. they smile, 2. they brush their hair, or 3. they stick their hand up to cover up the lens, etc. or some things like that. High spotlight observation also influences crowds, gatherings, protest, parties, etc. We often hear scientist say, "In the beginning there was darkness and then a Big Bang," but this --- obviously -- doesn't make sense and it clear we don't know what was before what we know is now. We really should say, "We don't know what existed or forces were involved, but a large explosion appears to have happened billions of years ago." ... citizenbfk, I couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunately, scientists are among the most egotistical, closed minded people in the world. If a scientist does research with significant results, those in his own field with higher degrees will have nothing to do with him or his work. Unfortunatly because of this, that scientist will probably never have his work published in a scientific journal no matter how important it is. This is nothing new in the scientific community, it has been a long standing practice. I think it has something to do with emotional maturity, which is a function handled by the right side of the bain. Scientists function mostly from the left side of their brain. I doubt th... There now.....do you feel better Chestnut? I just finished a novel, 'The End of Mr Y' by Scarlett Thomson which is a hugely enjoyable romp through quantum physics, philosophy, Derrida, Heidegger and the question of existence. (There is also a lot of quick and dirty sex in it which the heroine, Ariel Manta, loves, the final sex scene being astrophysical in its dimensions). did you say it's got sex? Astrophysical sex....I wonder.... |
