adamc says: What a master McEnroe is. Phillippoussis is planning to go back on tour next year, but can't get past the almost 50 year old. Straight sets too. John McEnroe was the tennis icon of my high school years and it's good to learn he's still good. McEnroe still has the same 'intensity' he's just better at controlling it now. Quality, not quantity. Still, Philippousis, seems to have a 'love life' which gets as much news than his tennis, maybe he was distracted. Scud definitely has a habit of getting distracted. So much potential, but he never seemed to be able to get his head in the right place. I remember when he double faulted to lose the Wimbledon Boys Championship. I remember when he beat Sampras (at his best) in straight sets in the Australian Open then went on to lose to Mark Woodforde in the next round. I wish I had been around to see McEnroe at his greatest. I was so happy to see this. I can't stand M.P. was it a fair beating? or were there? questions.....cuz the game might still be in review?....lol I blame it on his name. |
