Chances are Iran is playing a role in the war too. I am no "expert" in Middle East politics but the Shia Vs Suni thing and more specifically the Iran Vs Suadi Arabia rivalry is very old. Chances are both countries are playing out there own wars and disagreements using Iraq as the battleground. The Saudis', with a little help from Jordon supporting the Sunni insergents and Iran supporting the Shia militias.

And the great thing about this is. The Saudi Arabs that
attacked the WTC with our civilian commercial jets.
Now can attack us with our own weaponry. Are we really that stupid?

Actually the Saudi did not and will never attack the US, off curse as a government, but talking about the people, who dose not want to ?!!. After all the US still poses as the main enemy to all middle eastern people expect for the Israelis.
