Eric, I really think you can continue to think that there is a stronger correlation between the two. There have been many studies done that shows there is, however in all fairness to Mr.Copyblogger, I think that it's possible for a person to even have less than an average I.Q. and be creative, it's just not the norm. This guy also did a story on critical thinking and creativity. His point was that you need to be a critical thinker to be creative. There seems to be a bit of a contradiction here. From what I've observed, I would say that it takes more than an average I.Q. to be a critical thinker. After all, that would explain why the world is in the mess it's in. It would be interesting to see the research that the blogger is referring to.

However, there are learned techniques that many people of a wide spectrum of intelligence can use.

New Product Marketing classes teach brainstorming techniques that are not especially hard but many people have never been exposed to the technique.

So I believe this bloggers comment has merit while Chestnut's comment has merit also.

That's a good point about the learning techniques, BobbyRutan. I didn't really mean to be so harsh on the blogger and I'm not at all in total disagreement with him. If he's a teacher, then he's just doing what comes naturally.

Some of the people I've known who have had the highest IQ's have IMHO been well . . . boring.

I'll take creativity over genius any day of the week; that is if I want to be entertained.

But I think they can go hand in hand.
