Indeed, a good thing to do for those that have been hurt. Now will they really "listen" - time will tell.

THE strength of feeling among North East voters was evident yesterday when up to 500 people gathered in Wangaratta’s King George Gardens to make their own apology to the stolen generations.<BR /><P>
Organisers of the rally, hastily convened after the national apology in Canberra, were delighted with the response from those concerned the Indi electorate was not represented last week when member Sophie Mirabella chose not to attend.<BR /></P><P>
Those gathered heard messages of support from Reconciliation Victoria, the Alice Springs Family Legal Unit and an indigenous community at Fitzroy Crossing.<BR /></P><P>
But the stories from stolen generation members Wally Cooper, Faye Lynam and Avis Gayle were those which most strongly epitomised the reasons behind yesterday’s gathering.<BR /></P><P>
Wally Cooper, a member of the Yorta Yorta people, told of his pleasure at seeing the audience gathered before him.<BR /></P><P>
