Silkweaver says: The 300 apes in Spanish zoos would not be freed, but better conditions would be mandated. Meanwhile, even in democracies, the law accords diminished rights to many humans: children, prisoners, the insane, the senile. Teenagers may not vote, philosophers who slip into dementia may be lashed to their beds, courts can order surgery or force-feeding. Spain’s Catholic bishops attacked the vote as undermining a divine will that placed humans above animals. One said such thinking led to abortion, euthanasia and ethnic cleansing. Highly important and interesting issue. How does caring for animals in a humane way turn into abortion and euthanasia? WTF? Pap, thats what we call the Catholic church. Or as they say... Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. On the other hand. Great law IRT our primate relatives. Just don't expect me to treat lab mice with more respect than I do. Living tissue is necessary for some experiments. BTW Check this out in your free time... at Gibraltar, a species of primates are considered citizens. Can't get retribution for flung dung, no matter how pissed you are. wow, strange, and interesting..but disturbing mostly...humans are basically the only mammals that treat each other like animals, we are cruel, abusive, savage and intelligent enough to plan chaos and pain to other humans...we are not peaceful mammals, and as time passes by the less human behavior is displayed by our actions. There are other primates that conduct tribal style war. Baboons and Chimps are known to kill for pleasure. Other animals are also known to exhibit similar tendencies. They have recently found pods of dolphins killing other types of porpoises for "target" practice. But your right. The more time passes the more we shun the higher teachings of logic. |
