egoldstein says: I stand strongly behind my belief that if this country committed ourselves to becoming energy independent with the same determination that we committed to putting a man on the moon, that we could do it and we could create millions of new jobs in the process. It would be an enormous driver of economic growth and strengthen our leverage in the Middle East because we would no longer be reliant on their oil. I agree. By having green technologies available for national and international consumption, the US and other countries will no longer rely so heavily on oil. Therefore oil regions/countries will not have as much of any influence on everyone else. In fact oil prices will fall. But it gets better... By having green technologies available for all individuals, US citizens and other countries' citizens will no longer rely so heavily on large energy companies. Therefore special interests will not have as much influence on everyone else. In fact energy prices will fall. Therefore oil regions/countries will not have as much of any influence on everyone else. In fact oil prices will fall. You do know that Shell, Mobil, Exxon (and many others) all own a ton of patents on Solar energy, right? They have already beat the path to the next game and will still profit tremondously. You do know that Shell, Mobil, Exxon (and many others) all own a ton of patents on Solar energy, right? Then that means 100% certainty oil prices will fall AND no more pollution & oil wars. Then that means 100% certainty oil prices will fallReally? That's a nice dream, but that's about it. There are alot more resources on the planet that will be fought over than just oil. History has already taught us that. Slaves, Gold, Oil, weapons- the list will never end I'm afraid. Alright then, let's get ready for the Solar and Wind wars Yes, those that seek Empire will always start wars to acquire those resources. Do you know why those companies made all those patents? So they can sit on them. Their hardly doing anything with them. The real growth and development has come from "green" companies/goverment partnerships that seek to expand the horizons of these technologies. Hi E ! I think this is a great clip. However, I wonder if there is another underlying story here: “Our processes really require high productivity, so what makes itI tend to believe that the auto giants (corp exec's, etc) want the auto industry to fail - that would cut out "unions" as we know them. (Expensive ie: "high maintenance"). Any new business probably won't require a union; people are hungry to work; I think you know where I'm going. Just have a feeling there's something to read between the lines here. Coming from Michigan, and watching all the a... Well in part the American auto industry and the Unions are to blame for that. Both have failed to innovate and in the case of Unions, reform. But I don't see Unions ct out completely out of the pictures. As long as you have labor, they will need to be represented and protected. |
