Here's another way to make such etch-a-sketch art: http://neil.fraser.name/hardware/etch/

With such a device it is possible to simply draw the image (or load a drawing) on the computer and have the computer to the work of producing the drawing on the etch-a-sketch.

I'm sure many kids decided to be artists when they used an etch a sketch when they were young. These guys create the sort of art that can mean another generation can feel the same way.
