Godfrey Daniel says: "What would happen if we no longer used things like looks, age, sex and nationality to decide if we would try and become friends with a person? " GD, I clicked on this link from another clip and thought I would try it. I've just been 'allocated' a friend and I've messaged him. It seems like completely random fun! It is, but it has some bugs. Is your image or those of your friends displaying? Are various elements of your html getting killed in your messages. Do you have to too frequently sign in? My images seem to be OK and I don't have any friends yet. To be honest, I only go on it about once a day so I don't know much about it yet. You mean your image, singular, right? If you have no friends yet you can't know if theirs will show or not. Your first friend notification will be sent to the email address you used at signup Ok, I get it....it's social networking on speed....without all of the MySpace or Date.com hype and Photoshopped pics..... Well, I meant that I have not elected (and not not elected either) to keep any friends yet but I am messaging with someone and his image is fine; it's appearing on my home page. Nothing like meeting pedantry with pedantry, huh? Agent99 - yes, something like that I think. Hey, 99 how goes the stalker situation? I'm having a lot of fun with fortuitous. Sent some folks here. Don't know if they've shown up though What was the format of your uploaded image, Anon? It's a jpg, GD. And the 'friend' photo I can see is a jpg too. Hmm, mine is the same as here. It's a .gif. Usually not an issue. I'l try a little J Piggie. I've just rejected my first friend on this site (nothing at all in common, and he barely asked me anything about myself), and I've been given a new friend. Lo and behold, it's the same person as was given me the day before!!! Dear oh dear! BTW, does someone know when you've rejected them? Interesting. I never ask someone about themselves and don't like being interviewed, online, that is. I really think fortuitous is a great idea, even though in actual use it has so far been disappointing. I don't get why someone would, presumably, find it an attractive idea, go to the trouble to sign up, and then never respond. Most of mine have not responded. A couple responded, but minimally and initiated nothing. Fingermaster is the only one who shared anything, and that was self promotion, which is fine and I enjoyed it, but I'm hoping that this isn't how fortuitous is going to be mainly utilized. Got me suspecting that my next "friend" might send, "Hey Dude! Wanna replace your [i]flo... I think this concept is attractive and looks new but most likely it won't work because it is being controlled by a site or so it seems. I come back to Clipmarks By the way, my image problem was solved when the .gif was converted to .jpg The only control that is evident is in sending you new contacts, and I imagine that that is entirely random. |
