egoldstein says:
Why would anyone want to refer to themselves as a pit bull with lipstick? Is that some kind of endearing quality? Is that some kind of characteristic we want in our leadership? I just don't get it. Pit bulls are notorious for attacking innocent bystanders (often children) with fierce vengeance - that's certainly their stigma at least. So why in the world is it something that a potential President of the United States would be proud of comparing herself to? Personally, i find it very scary that she would say that and i honestly find it scary that a room full of people would stand up and cheer the idea.

She's also going to overshadow McCain with the novelty. It's up to the next few months now as to whether she can deliver anything of actual substance (which, while a fine speech delivery-wise, was sorely lacking last night).

How affective a pit bull will she be with all those skeletons in her closet?

Oh, cptenaud, you're so sexist to be looking at those with any sort of serious scrutiny.

Palin is the solution to the Hagee alliance issue, apparently she "borrowed" that joke from him, Palin:"Do you know the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick." In a particularly demeaning to women part of his book, "What Every Man Wants in a Woman", Hagee wrote:
"Do you know the difference between a woman with PMS and a snarling Doberman pinscher? The answer is lipstick." And if she is borrowing anything from Hagee, or that book, she seriously needs her head examined, especially if she claims to be an independent minded woman.

It's better to have a pitbull with lipstick guarding your country than a poodle with a tiara anyday. And yes, you may quote me on that.

Why would anyone want to. And what's with comparing women to dogs with lipstick anyway? It's really incredibly childish and lame.

Well if I want your sexist remarks quoted, so be it. I mean if your going to call someone a bitch, might as well you say so.

No need to be PC about it. And not a nice thing to do to your own candidate, btw. Bad message discipline, or maybe a Freudian slip, hard to tell. I'll ask the Senator in the bathroom stall:

"Yes?"

TAP-TAP-TAP

"I think he says that it, like him, can go both ways."

Oh boy!

The text Sarah Palin used was- "Hockey Mom" Maybe you have to be one to understand what that means.

Soccer moms are wimps. Hockey mom's are not. nuff said.

ratilfar
Whats the difference? You mean to tell me that hockey moms push their kids aside and play the games themselves? Or that all those soccer moms that voted for Hillary don't really matter?

I mean, again, message discipline is SOOO important.

No I'm, not a "hockey mom" however in my teens I was a hockey PLAYER. So my mom was a "hockey mom" I guess, I would still never compare her to a dog in lipstick!

i'd have to say that is the most unsubstantiated, ignorant, stereotypical comment in the history of clipmarks. in addition, it is offensive. i personally did not play hockey growing up, but i loved soccer. and i'd say that my mom fit in the "soccer mom" category. To say she is a wimp is just assinine.

I was actually 'offended' by the above as it implies that Sarah Palin 'demeaned' women by re-using a part of Hagee's line. The mes...

. "Only a Spirit-filled woman can submit to her husband's lead. It is the natural desire of a woman to lead through feminine manipulation of the man...Fallen women will try to dominate the marriage. The man has the God-given role to be the loving leader of the home."
Do you know the difference between a terrorist and a woman with PMS? You can negotiate with a terrorist."
- Pastor John Hagee in his book What Every Man Wants in a Woman
One wonders when she will be using these quotes as well. Paying homage to that book (even when aimed to "hockey moms") is not something one would expect from an independent minded woman as she makes herself to be. Aside from the fact that it's not very orig...

Do a google search about what she did to Alaska state trooper Wooten, and you'll see why she takes pride in being vicious and vindictive.

Pitbull Palin. I think I will use that repeatedly.

Pitbull Palin, Pitbull Palin, Pitbull Palin.

Yeah, I think that is nice positive imagery that is going to win over a lot of people.

Pitbull Palin.

Obama is wrong. McCain/Palin won't be 4 more years of Bush/Cheney; it would be worse.

Uh, egoldstein...it's a joke. The point as you well know was to point out that just because she's a woman doesn't mean she can't be tough. You leftys are running scared because you know that while she won't appeal to the elitist pseudo-intellectual snobs, she does very much appeal to mainstream American women and men....

I met a lot of American women, I have yet to see someone who likes to be called a female dog with lipstick. And BTW, you got anything to backup the claims that you keep making about what the American people like or dislike?

Perhaps the topic was meant to stir instigation and not 'discussion'. Those who watched the RNC saw what they saw. Those who didn't want to watch the RNC saw something else apparently.

Rustee, I couldn't agree more, but I will add to it just a little.
1. the "lipstick" joke has been around a long, long time. Just the comparison object changes. The point is that it _is_ a joke, and like many jokes, it could be considered juvenile. I know I chuckled.
2. at least egoldstein emphasizes the "personality traits" associated with a pit bull instead of the physical, as others seem to be. To entertain that she was making a physical comparison of women and dogs doesn't make sense to me.

@cjartists:

As mayor, she also fired Wasilla librarian Mary Ellen Emmons for refusing to draw up guidelines for banning books.

As to the original remark, Palin is the one who brought it up.

Ok, she is a pit bull with lipstick. I wonder what will happen if Biden puts a .45 on her temple and pulls the trigger. Rhetorically speaking or course, but my buddy, an ex-Seal called the 1911 the hush puppy because that is what the used to "silence" drug runner's watch dogs and what you do when a pit bull gets a hold of your child and doesn't want to let go.

So if Biden blows her away (at the rhetorical level) will she come back fighting or whimper away with her tail between her legs while right-wing media complaining that those mean Democrats are so, so angry?

Mind you, dogs are not wolves. Wolves have Alpha males/females. Dogs in human society are either Omegas or dead.

Surely someone's enough a PhotoShopper to put lipstick on a pit bull photo, with a campaign slogan across the bottom.

And, my goodness, what would happen at my kid's high school if a woman identified herself as a female canine? Guess what her forever nickname would be!

It's conservatism's deep inner sense that "we" are the real Americans, and everybody else is trying to take it away from us.
