Many religions celebrate it each in their own way. The problem is not political correctness, but yet another made-up attack by fundamentalists to gain more power to themselves. 
Its like in Saudi Arabia where fundamentalists are supported by the more sane people there only because the fundamentalists scream so loudly for attention and make all kinds of threats to get their way.
