thisnamecantbetaken says: A SenseCam-like device could be part of an artificial memory used by ordinary people, just as they use notebooks and planners as memory aids today. Geepers. They make it sound all cool and dandy, but you'd not only be logging your life, but everyone else's too. I'm not really keen on the idea of having my picture taken every single time I met someone, with one of these contraptions. This would turn everyone into a 24-hour surveillance system. I'm not sure I like the sound of this... "A story that forces us to question the power of our memories and the sanctity of our privacy." Just like the camera. You should watch that movie when you get a chance TN. I'm not really keen on the idea of having my picture taken every single time I met someone, with one of these contraptionsWell, to be honest, your image is captured every time you meet someone - in their memory. This device just makes it easier to share those memories and to recall back to them. I think in a headband or on a ball cap would be the place to put it. Dangling around your neck might be a bit obtrusive. And make it smaller, of course, so it isn't visible. One day the images will be transmitted to a vault, and then people suffering crimes will have evidence against their attackers - and it will be more than simple pictures, but full video. It's great for people with Alzheimers but hands up anyone who is so self-obsessed they'd want to document their every waking moment. It brings new meaning to the term "navel-gazing"! I'd do it. Several times I want to tell someone about something in my day and words just don't do it justice. In fact, with the work I do it would be great for tracking the time it takes to do various parts of my job. Well, I can see yr point Oortcloud, it could have it's uses. A personal choice to use, to be sure. I'd start to get my hair standing up if I was told I had to wear something like that and the images were going to be stored somewhere I didn't have access (or even somewhere that someone else had full access). your image is captured every time you meet someone - in their memory. But at least it won't end up on youtube or facebook! . |
