willhelm says: I just cannot believe what I am seeing. This level of arrogance is unrivaled. Agreed, All of a sudden he is a proud American. Ha Ha Ha It's hard not to be "arrogant" with 200,000 people applauding 30 times in 27 minutes. While McCain just wishes he could wake he's audience up. What bothers you about this? The "citizen of the world" line? Reagan said the exact same thing in 1982. Did it bother you then? (http://snipr.com/34lz7) ... Or what is it that's so bad about this? Just the fact that he's speaking to a non-U.S. audience? I do not understand your comment, enbar. This clip is about Obama "remaking" the world. Also, I was 14 in 1982. The only thing that bothered me then was when my girlfriend got grounded and couldn't talk on the telephone. Regarding "citizen of the world". We have no doubt about Reagan's allegiance. I think it is obvious to most that the interests of the US and the US individual are not of primary concern to Obama. And why would I care about the nationality of his audience? If he wants to campaign for the presidency of the US in Europe, then I am fine with that. But, why did he cancel his visit to troops in the hospital in Germany? They are after all the ones who can actually vote in this election. Actually Reagan's very first act as president was to break U.S. law and have Oliver North take the blame, or have you forgotten the Iran-Contra business? Reagan did some very slimy things while in office; of course I wasn't 14 years old in 1982, I was getting out of the navy after having gone to the Persian Gulf to try and save the hostages legally under Jimmy Carter's leadership, only to have Reagan undo everything by trading arms to terrorists for their release. To call Obama's arrogance "unrivaled" is ludicrous after 7 yrs of Dubya Boosh and Dickie Cheney...Willie the wanker hyperbole about nothing. @willhelm What about this clip gives you the impression that Obama plans to "remake" the world, or that his primary allegiance is not to the U.S.? And I have to agree with papanook. I have a hard time seeing this as "unrivalled arrogance" given some of the actions of the current administration. It seems to me they rival Obama's "arrogance," and then some, to put it mildly. You say to-mah-to, I say to-ma-to. @enbar - you're forgetting one small but important detail - Bush is somebody and Obama is a nobody (at this particular moment). @boniface - I think your timeline is slightly screwed up. The arms for hostages was happening after Reagan got elected and your failed mission to save them occurred before he became the President. The way you make it sound as if Reagan somehow managed to screw up your mission... perhaps he personally handled the transfer of sand into those helicopters... or was it Col. North? @enbar "The way you make it sound as if Reagan somehow managed to screw up your mission..." I never said any such thing! And I know exactly what happened when. Reagan was a criminal. Sorry last post was for Recordsage. Also @ Recordsage "you're forgetting one small but important detail - Bush is somebody and Obama is a nobody" What you're forgetting is that Bush is a lame-duck has-been and Obama is a soon to be president. At this point it's what's called 'wishful thinking' on your part, although if Obama does manage to get elected you'll wish you had Reagan back. As for what you said - read what you actually said and I quote... I was getting out of the navy after having gone to the Persian Gulf to |
