In this case I was able to "pro-deal" this compas, meaning that Brunton gave me more than half off because I'm an outdoor professional. It is a sweet compass, and I recommend it to anyone. However, I don't recommend paying full price unless you are hardcore for wilderness navigation and orienteering. The two features that are unique and make it worth while for me are the clinometer in the bezel, which allows me to immediately and precisely gauge a slope, and the level, which allows me to make s... Oh, and I just asked a friend about that. He says Brunton's website is probably so expensive because they don't want to undersell their retailers.
