One should be careful to understand that gender dysphoria, the feeling that one's psychological gender does not match ones physical gender, is not necessarily related to homosexuality. There are many transvestites or trans-gendered individuals who are "straight" (That is to say, a man who choses to become a woman may well still be sexually attracted to women.)

And homosexuality is not always a dissatisfaction with ones own gender. Most of the gays I know are fiercely protective of both their gender and orientation. From all that I've ever seen and heard, homosexuals are not simply men with female sex drives, or women with male sex drives. In fact, they are something unique and distinct.

But in the end, maybe the real trouble lies with the word "problem." Psychological problem? Physiological problem? The use of the word in reference to sexual orientation is absurd. Any particular sexual orientation can present social complications, but when fulfilled in an emotionally healthy way, I can't imagine what substantial difference there is between homosexuality and heterosexuality that might make either one a "problem."

I don't bother imagining "problems" in other people's lives, and I certainly don't worry about fixing them! It reduces my stress a lot, and generally makes our society a much more pleasant place to live.
