chestnut501 says: Much of the explicit personal information that we deliberately keep private is still available implicitly in the public data trail. Back a few years ago (around the year 2000 if memory serves), some security expert went on myspace and garnered info on teens. He showed the teens (and their freaked out parents) how easy it is for anyone to figure out where you live by showing up at their doors. The teens did not post their full names, nor their home addresses, yet it was not difficult for him to find the kids. Safety and security are a myth. They cannot be legislated (even though we have destroyed the Constitution trying) and rules don't mean much. Life is dangerous, learn to protect yourself or be a victim. Your choice, but asking the government to do it for us is not just futile, it is downright dangerous. OK, now I'm even more paranoid! You better be careful who you hang out with on the internet..... Don't forget, cats are cool. That's exactly why I hang out with the coolest cat around & that means you Chestnut! |
