It doesn’t say who began the verbal abuse, and actually that doesn’t even matter.

Since it seems more and more evident everyday that there are Neanderthals living amongst us I am not surprised that someone would resort to violence, and what did it prove? Someone can throw a punch and someone can bite off a finger, big deal. This is a very destructive use of our right to protest. It serves no other purpose than to create more animosity and hatred.

“The victim, 65-year-old William Rice of Newbury Park, lost a portion of his left pinky finger after taking a swing at a man who Rice says verbally assaulted him as he stood with a small group of anti reform counter protesters near the Oaks Mall.

The suspect, captured in a photo taken by someone else at the demonstration, had reportedly been part of a rally organized by Moveon.org in support of health insurance reform. He reportedly was with the larger group of pro reform demonstrators when he crossed the street to confront the smaller anti group when the "set-to" with Rice happened.

The incident has become national news. The story has made the cable news and traditional TV networks, as well as on line services and blogs, not to mention newspapers from New York to Los Angeles.”

So, it appears MSM is reporting the story and it is clear that the confrontation quickly descended from verbal abuse to a common street fight by Rice.

Everyone knows there is going to be some shouting at a political rally and given the history of tensions over this particular subject coupled with the fact that our society is degenerating into brutality and vulgarity everyone knows there will be verbal abuse . If you are not thick skinned enough to take it then maybe you should stay away from it.
