Chytrid fungus has been a huge threat to frogs for over ten years. I was doing some field work about ten years ago and was warned then against spreading the chytrid fungus as I traveled from pond to pond. I was advised to use a bleach solution to disinfect my boots and equipment whenever I left a pond. The fear is that people studying wildlife habitats are inadvertently spreading this devastating fungus.
