Makes me want to be an astronomer...

At least once in my life I want to go to a place with (almost) no artificial light where I can look at the night sky and am not able to count the stars.

You should go out on the ocean. Its amazing

The beach, the first week in August, during the meteor
showers is unbelievable.

I was once out in the ocean, on a big ship (from Italy to Greece). At night surrounded by a total blackness. There was so much light on the ship, and not much chance to see any stars.
The beach in August sounds great... For me it doesn't have to be the beach. I will try to be at a dark place this August...
At some point action must follow the wishes, why not this year?

I was in the navy - they stay dark at night

If you look really closely you can see James Bond skulking about atop the roof, working to assure world safety against the evil plans of Dr. Starlight.
