The video is mostly about Anthrax, but there are many dangerous "little buggers" out there we should all know about. From several types of Herpes, to H1N1. Most have treatments none have true cures. While scientists study these endlessly, the big pharmaceutical companies are not funding research for cures. There is no big future profit if there is no disease. There is huge profit in treatments, and medicines. Funding for cure research comes from "venture philanthropy", private donation and other non-governmental groups and grants. A lot of money for college research comes from the alumni, and very little from government grants.

Viruses, to the best of my knowledge, so far didn't play sufficient role in bacteriological weapons, although there are enough scoundrels and idiots with itching urge to use them. Thanx God forbid.

In general, they are an agents of Nature, called to accompdate us to surrounding challenges. Sometimes this accomodation can be painful, with flu-like symptoms, but on the whole we coming from these infections with boosted immunity. Main commandment of doctor is "do not inflict harm!". In this case it is more than actual.

Aklimento: if some bacteria, let's say certain strains of Staphylococci were to be let loose upon the public, airborne, or otherwise, it could be horrific! Staph is the most feared bacteria in hospitals and labs throughout the globe. If it enters the blood stream, it literally eats away at all the organs, especially the heart and lungs causing death in less than a week. Once it enters the body there is little hope of survival of the patient.

I am talking about viruses, dmoonme1. Not alive creatures, serving as immunizing factor. Live organisms bacterias also present in some parts of human body as normal flora, even staphylococci. You cannot kill them all - it is simply impossible to be absolutely sterile (besides reproductive function ). Modern antibiotics lead to dysbacteriosis - dangerously chaotic flora, aggravated by unpredictable side effects. Sure, internal fluids must be sterile, presence of any bacteria in blood is the sign of sepsis and must be treated in hospital. To live in harmony with surrounding world is social prerogative, not medical.
