Taking the Google map concept from street view - to trail view. Google has ingeniously come up with the idea of mapping trails and other places where cars can't go - with bikes and pedestrian versions of their camera system.

Wouldn't it tho? What would be very cool is if they can 3d map the surrounding as a bike moves around. In other words, each photo could break every object down into a 3d coordinate so even if the bike never leaves the path one could still explore around the trees - which wouldn't have to be exactly real looking ... even simple cartoons would make a recognizable place a cool visit running like that.

A Google / Nintendo partnership seems like an amazing idea with this sort of application, although I don't see how they could ever actually agree to agree.

I think you should propose the idea to them, it's just interesting enough that they might think about doing it.
