debbyski says:
"Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it."

It is error alone which needs the support of government.

Government is too big and too important to be left to the politicians.

Loved the quotes Syncopath and Debbyski! After reading McCollough's book "John Adams" and then watching the HBO mini series "John Adams", purportedly taken from the book--what a man our second president was! It's a shame there are no monuments in Washington, D.C., Washington, Jefferson--but none for John Adams. To think he was there, on the committee charged with writing the Declaration of Independence, he nominated Washington to be the general of the Colonial Army, our constitution is modeled on the Massachusetts' constitution which basically he wrote--and then to have to follow George Washington, first as his Vice President and then as our second president. And then to lose to Thomas J...

John Adams was right and he would be shocked to know what is going on. Power and influence undercut the people's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The belief that God favors the powerful and wealthy and the rest of us just need to get in line permeates our government. The People's desires are mere envy, a sin that requires control through total obedience to the God of Power. A recent example of this religious elitism is Phil Gramm's bellowing that we are suffering from a "mental recession" and calling us a "nation of winers" (shut up you! know your place!). Ironically, this philosophy is preached every Sunday to the masses who swallow the poison whole.

Where they should imagine they can govern, they imagine they can rule.
Power is a terminal addiction, with untold co-lateral damage.
