About 250 million years ago, the <A href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Techtonic_plates">plates</A> on which the <A href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continents">present-day continents</A> rest were positioned quite <A href="http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/geology/techist.html">differently</A>, so that all the landmasses were clustered together in <A href="http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/dec98/913866772.Sh.r.html">one supercontinent</A> now dubbed <A href="http://www.scotese.com/newpage8.htm">Pangea</A>.
