The Treaty provides that there shall be "constant peace and perpetual friendship" between the Philippines and France and today provides the foundation for the enduring ties between both countries. Historically these ties can trace their roots to the French Revolution, which is said to have inspired Andres Bonifacio and the Philippine Revolution of 1896.
