Can't help with the translation but the shot of three guys kneeling at the summit of a hill is in Ireland (St. Patrick's Hill?).

Croagh Patrick derives its name from the Irish Cruach Phádraig "(St) Patrick's stack", and is known locally as the Reek, which is a Hiberno-English word for a "rick" or "stack".

Very good spot. How on earth did you know? This makes the translation all the more intriguing now as that pic was with the Iron Curtain ones.

Thousands still ascend bear-footed, each year.

I used to have this entire collection of photos in a book (gifted to me by a French girlfriend) and recall the Irish image as one of the most powerful photos in it.
