It is appalling and unacceptable that this inhumane practise is still carried out in some parts of the world; if it's not required by Islamic law, why would anyone condone it?

And if it is required by Islamic law, why would anyone follow Islamic law? What a horrible, horrible thing.

Parents who support the practice argue that it helps prevent promiscuous behaviour in their daughters.

And what prevents promiscuous behaviour in their sons? Oh, that's right. They're allowed to sleep around.

The remarkable thing here is that they are actually starting to want to abandon this practice. Could it be that finally religions are entering the 21st century?.
