I have often heard from girlfriends that they love their kids more than life itself, but if they could chose over, they never would have had them. (These are often girl's night out confessions after a few pints and not voiced in "normal" conversations for fear of judgement, I think) I think some women may have an overly romantic view of motherhood and then the reality of diapers and sleepless nights hits them. Mothers and mother-in-laws etc should and could be more honest towards their daughters as to what to expect. I have no kids of my own. I was a stepmother once though and that's why. That, along with other stuff, pretty much made it clear to me (as harsh as it may seem to some) that I love being around cats and dogs more, than I enjoy the company of children.

People say to me that that would be different "if they were my own kids". The only difference to me in having my own would be, that I can't give them back to their parents at the end of the day, like I can now!! *LOL*

As a 100% voluntary non-birthing female, I'd also like to say, that I am disgusted with people who make comments like: "You're not a real woman, if you don't have children." I would dare to say, that I am more woman than *they*...

it annoys the piss out of me when my husband immediately gets on the computer after being at work all day. the kids will only be up for another hour or so, you haven't seen them all day, spend some time with them already! and don't give me the evil eye when i say something to you!
