World War II started at the end of 1941 and 'ended' in May/August 1945 when the U.S. got surrender from the Germans/Japanese. So all in all, our part of WW2 lasted 3.75 years against 3 entire nations. How long have we been in Iraq? Additionally, General Patton messaged Washington urging politicians that we needed to continue the war effort and take out the Soviets. This would have added several more years of troops in the field, not to mention causualties. Yet, Russian is not the standard here in the US. When did we end up pulling our troops out of Germany and Japan? Victory in Iraq is impossible. We lost already, and have no hope of ever winning. If we want democracy in Iraq, we need to let the people decide what to do with their country. And both here and there, the people are saying send our troops home. |
