Didn't he call in to Dave Letterman.

But then hes just a comedian that anybody can dis.

He called Letterman to say he wasn't coming because he had to rush to Washington. During the show, Letterman's staff discovered McCain on a CBS news feed in the news studio primping for an interview with Katie Couric, and showed it live on Letterman. CBS was furious, I've heard. Letterman called out, "Hey McCain! I've got a question for ya! Need a ride to the airport?"
Turns out McCain didn't leave town till the next day, Letterman found out, and lambasted him again that night. I think there's a clip posted on it.

Yes I saw the show that night. It made the best comedy sketch of them all.
