MorganLvr says: People in the horse industry - heads up! If that's the case, we all might could afford one: "The first incentive allows an owner who purchases a horse or other business property and places it in service in 2009 to expense up to $250,000 of the cost. The "Section 179" expensing allowance applies to horses, farm equipment, and most other depreciable property." - who thinks this stuff up? Perhaps families with kids ought to get a perk like that. "Once total purchases of horses and other eligible property reach $800,000, the expense allowance goes down one dollar for each dollar spent over $800,000." wow! (but I am a horse lover) Sorry to bust your bubble, but these breaks are only for people in the horse BUSINESS, not owners to whom horses are for pleasure. You have to prove that you made money - or at least intended to make money - with your horse operation. And believe me, they are STRICT about this. Us regular recreational horse owners need not apply. :o( |
