My daughter has Vista in her laptop and she has no complaints but I know plenty of people who hate Vista. *LOL*, I'm still running Windows 98SE and it suits me fine. OR make Windows Open Source then some real programmers can fix the bugs that Microsoft keep overlooking AND we would get real updates every few weeks/months and not have to wait 5 years POPPED and signed petition I bought VISTA last summer, installed it on the desktop I use, didn't like it. Instead of simply un-installing it, I had to reformat the drive and then reinstall XP, there's a real selling factor. Maybe MS will get some SPs out later so I can actually use this junky system, if not then I just flushed that money down the drain. No wonder Bill Gates is so damn rich, he keeps pushing garbage and we keep buying it, even if it doesn't work. Signed. I see where Microsoft now offers their Vista SP1 (beta?) They had originally intended it just for beta testers but the ISO file got onto the net and now MS is releasing it to the public via huge download. I think MS should offer a CD/DVD version, of course for a nominal fee. I'm still not sure of the size, I saw on which said it was I think over 5gig, another showing 5-6MB, which is why they need to offer a mailer to those wanting one. Being beta, may not be any good, just more trash. There should be a class action against MS for pushing should a piece of worthless trash. I'm still hoping that eventually it may become a viable system without investing more money into it. 500-600MB - should have been Both my desktop and laptop came with XP installed. The biggest problem I've had with it so far is that on both machines, Outlook Express stopped downloading my emails, so I had to switch over to Thunderbird. Recently got a new computer with Vista on it. Not one of the programs used on the older computer worked with Vista after I installed them. Only 2 of them had fixes that I could find online. As a result the new computer is sitting, unplugged and unused, in the corner. I bought a new desktop with Vista pre-installed a couple months after it came out. Most of my programs ran on it, but some didn't run very well. Some features didn't show up on the menus or toolbars, or didn't work. In the months since, all those problems have been fixed by updates to Vista or the programs. Basically, I think Vista's problems are: 1. Microsoft released it before third-party vendors had time to tailor their programs to the final version, and 2. Vista's okay, but it doesn't have anything that makes you want to upgrade from XP right away. But really, as long as you have XP on your computer and an installation disc, it doesn't matter if Microsoft is selling it any more or not. |
