Anyone know how to say "you got served" in Nepali? If anyone knows whats going to happen to the palaces - or if they'll be on the open market let me know! I have a subtle feeling they might turn into Prachandra ko Swimming Pool, Prachandra ko Summer Palace, etc. etc. but hey at least it wipes the smug grin off this guys face.

What will be really interesting is to see what role the new government creates for the Royal Kumari, considering her patronage of the Rana kings on the one hand, but her status as a beloved national symbol.

The difficult thing for Nepal's new government seems to be that while the royalty is done for, the people are still very warmly attached to the institutions of the royalty. Nostalgia will be one of the biggest challenges to reform, even now that the monarchy is collapsed and beyond hope of resurrection...
