JICWyllie says: Are we on the way to H G Wells vision of the World Brain? Inspiring stuff JICWyllie. I think Clipmarks can play a leading role in offering the tools and platform necessary for the global brain to take shape. "During the 1930s, H.G.Wells wrote a series of booklets advocating his vision of what he called the ‘World Brain’, by which he meant a common, systematic global organisation of the world’s knowledge. According to Wells, this world encyclopaedia would act as “a clearing house of misunderstandings” and as “a way for humanity to achieve a common perception of a common purpose”. Wells also predicted that intellectual workers would move from the assembly of knowledge to digestion of its meaning with the ultimate goal of achieving “wisdom”, which he defined as “having a sense of knowing what to do when handling complex problems that require understanding and effective decisions”. In Wells’s view, ... Very exciting ideas all round. Helping create "a way for humanity to achieve a common perception of a common purpose" is certainly a lofty goal, but we don't see any reason why Clipmarks couldn't play a leading role in making it happen. Would love to discuss it further. Feel free to send any ideas to adam@clipmarks.com -- we should be in touch in the coming weeks. Great stuff! JICWyllie, your perception of clipmarks is very close to my own. Along the same lines as the concept of the noosphere. Thanks for such a great endorsement. I'm committed to making your vision of clipmarks become a reality! Yes, to your question Jan & even more. Have you ever read The Spiritual Universe by Fred Alan Wolf? In his book he talks about there being only one consciousness/mind in the universe. Here's a quote from page 104 paragraph 4, "Scientists like Inomata believe in the principle of a universal mind----a vast holographically structured mega-computer(God). They see the vacuum as linked to our thoughts & feelings as much as it is linked to the appearance of matter & energy." Thanks for the clip. @Adam & Eric As I've commented before there's no doubt that Clipmarks IS playing a part in what is an awakening of our potential as the human race. In fact there's are a number of allusions to it... A meme thermometer There is the idea of artificial intelligence, and the question of consciousness. It occurred to me that the layout of the net is similar to the brain in the way that a terminal can act like a neuron, the cables and links like dendrites, and we are the consciousness. While we all have opinions with different characteristics, there are fundamental needs and views that are either identical, parallel, or able to be understood by the vast majority of people. The internet follows the same basic principle as physics, or nature. If there is a gap fill it. If the attempt is not successful, fill it with something else until there is a match-or things that are unproductive, can be replaced by things t... |
