I've known about Obama for a long time because I'm in Chicago, but not everyone is so familar. Hillary Clinton has been in the national eye since 1992. Her name recognition blew his out of the water a year ago when Obama declared. All polls show the trajectory of Obama votes going up and up. He's won lilly-white states like Iowa, Utah, North Dakota, and Idaho. Please stop accusing the Democrats of being racist. It's ad hominem attack and nothing more. As to whether or not Republican primary voters would choose "a black conservative with Obama's qualities", well, if and when it happens we can talk about it. I'm not a news junkie. I am a truth junkie. News junkies only read what they want to read. News junkies seek to have their opinions confirmed by their selective, biased sources. Truth junkies study issues, apply logic, and defy conventional wisdom for the purpose of better understanding. News junkies hate truth junkies because truth junkies step all over your preconceived notions. News junkies are mostly partisan hacks. With Reagan it was about hope and the future, now it is about fear and the past. Funny thing that the Democrats have not one, but two history making candidates, the Republicans, none. They got a theocratic preacher, an old legionnaire and a flip-flopping CEO, oh and a loony libertarian who would fling the country back to 1800s. No wonder the party is such a mess. Mind you I don't like the idea of Billary, dynasties and democracies do not mix. The last 8 years should have taught everybody that lesson all too well (for those who cared to learn it, of course, which excludes a few people around here). I read daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, magazines, watch the news, and use the internet. It is important for me in my line of work to know what's going on in politics, in the nation, and in my city and neighborhood. My consumption of news covers the left-right spectrum because I understand that I must hear all viewpoints. I even read some of your clips, willhelm. I suppose I could have myself a "truth junkie", too, if only I were as darn clever as you and thought of it first. |
