From mainstream mass media one would be totally unaware of the many initiatives and ideas for peace by actual Palestinians and Israelis who do not follow the agenda set by the dominant powers.

I think this is very important. The idea that Palestine would become a truly viable state on its own seems highly improbably to me. The two-state solution seems like simply a way for Israel to wash its hands of responsibility for a people it has robbed and impoverished. It also avoids the nasty problems of religious tolerance and democracy, for a one state solution would require inviting the people of the west bank and Gaza into the democratic process, and Israel is determined to remain a Jewish state.
