AtlLiberal says:
There are limits. For a candidate who claims that he'd rather lose a campaign than lose a war this latest McCain slime fest shows that he is the ultimate hypocrite. McCain's accusations are not even clever lies. They're just self-serving, grammar school playground lies. Are people so stupid that they'll buy this tripe?

no...this type of stupid accusation is actually dumb enough that people will be able to see through it. And hopefully it will serve as an example to people of how willing to say anything the so-called "Straight Talk Express" has become.

I agree. The problem is that, unfortunately, the people's memory is like a sieve. The next news cycle completely wipes out what happened preceding it.

Text from the bill:

Each class or course in comprehensive sex education offered in any of grades K 6 through 12 shall include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread of HIV AIDS.
6 and AIDS both have lines through them. Shall means it isn't optional. In other words, any course taught, even in kindergarten, MUST include instruction on the prevention and transmission of STDs.

Try reading something else besides comedian Limbaugh's regurgitation. And don't let the truth hit you in the ass on your way out.

From the Chicago Sun Times:

The facts: 1. The bill was not Obama's. The sponsors were Democrats Carol Ronen, M. Maggie Crotty, Susan Garrett , Iris Y. Martinez and Jeffrey M. Schoenberg 2. The measure never passed. 3. The legislation in several places said all sex ed had to be "age and developmentally appropriate." Obama backed teaching youngsters about inappropriate touching by strangers. 4. The bill would let parents opt out of a sex education course.
So many idiots, so little time...

Seems that link isn't working, so here is the long link

First, the part saying SHALL is in section A of the bill. If Obama didn't see it, then that means he likely didn't read the bill at all.

Second, the default action is to teach all kids. No permission slips sent home, parents would have to know it was going to be taught and send an objection in writing to exempt their child.

Don't let the Chicago Sun Times or any of the rest of the MSM filter your news for you. Go straight to the source and read the bill yourself.

Each class or course in comprehensive se...

What, did you simply skip over the parts that didn't fit in with your idea of what should be.
Your clip is simply proving what I said. First, that there is nothing there which requires schools to inform parents about the program. It is rather difficult for parents to know to opt out if they don't even know about the program. Second, that they are required to teach all students K-12 about prevention of STDs. And there is nothing age appropriate when it comes to teaching five year olds about STDs.

And it doesn't matter if the bill passed or not, what matters is how Obama voted.

Second, that they are required to teach all students K-12 about prevention of STDs.
The text from the bill you highlight does not say this though. It does not mandate comprehensive sex education for kindergarterners. It says any comprehensive sex education class offered in any grade shall include information on preventing STDs. So if a district does not offer comprehensive sex education at a particular grade, they don't have to worry about covering STDs at that grade level.

The way I see it, this bill is not mandating comprehensive sex education; rather it is trying to regulate the content of any comprehensive sex education courses offered by the state. By chang...

There is everything appropriate about teaching young children wrong touch and right touch.

Aren't you from the party who says they always take personal responsibility? Or are you saying rebubbacans are clueless about what their kids do in school?

Ever heard of the PTA? Join up.

Furthermore the bill lists ares to be taught in their programs. The program starts at kindergarten and goes till students graduate. At each grade they are taught what is appropriate for that age.

Your trying to spin again n2. You get more laughable the further along you go.

Isn't it up to the parents to take enough responsibility to know what classes their kids are taking, and then, if they object to an item of the curriculum, object? My parents were always aware of the classes I was taking, even in college (though by then it was usually because of my complaining about them). Isn't it promoting the nanny state to expect that schools enforce parents' attention to their childrens' education?

The ultimate personal responsibility regarding childrens' education is anteing up for a parochial school or taking the time to do home schooling. For a parent to send a kid to public schools (which after all, were intended to promote a degree of equality in education ind...
