Take the myth of black churches and civil rights for example: as we learn in the clip, many ministers took the George Washington Carver route in support of the status quo. " Although Carver was unhappy with "racial strictures" he never challenged the status quo."

Of course, white conservative America showered Carver with accolades and after his death turned his birthplace into a national monument : the first such honor bestowed upon a black man. There is no national monument honoring Martin Luther King Jr,, but there is one to Booker T. Washington, beloved by white southerners because his ideas supported their notions of black inferiority. Washington said that before receiving political rights black people had to prove loyalty to the US by shutting up and working hard without complaint. In general, people of color must be like George and Booker to receive the love of many white conservatives. No thanks. (see Clarence Thomas, MIchelle Malkin).
