Lucky duck! I hope he has a long and happy life; he's certainly got a bragging tale of survival to share with his fellow ducks! Wait, the guy wounded it's WING and LEG, and thought he killed it with just that? LOL. I'm surprised that the duck was not immediately bludgeoned to death when it was found alive. After all, the original goal was to kill it. Why did these folks suddenly decide that the duck deserved to live? Good question! Duck Plays Possum (i bet somewhere this very moment that headline is being written for news story on this) @Crazy, dorine -- yeah, at first, i wondered the same thing. but there is a difference between a hunter and a killer. once the poor thing no longer had a fighting chance, he (but more likely the wife who found the duck alive) probably decided it would be not be sporting to just cut its head off, or whatever. @geeknoob -- does make you wonder. but i'm guessing he thought the wounds were more serious -- since it appeared to be dead -- but it was the vet who later determined he had only winged it. my question is: is it common for hunters to just toss dead wild fowl into the fridge, next to the milk and leftover speghetti? spaghetti, of course. sorry, that's what i get for trying to be too witty and clever! |
