You can most likely bet on it. The KGB (now called the FSB) likes to stay in control. They are not going quietly. Vlad was a former colonel in the KGB, so indicators say yes.

I would not be so quick to warm up to Mr. Putin, but he certainly not buying the whole friendly missile system that is not directed at them but sits in their front yard kind of thing. Russia real concern is energy sources and manipulating those to gain leverage in Europe, they see American intrusion disturbing (and ammunition for the real neocoms lurking behind the scenes).

Jumpy oligarchs/technocrats and bad foreign policy do not make for a good diplomatic mix.
