AtlLiberal says: I wonder if all that crap about loving your fellow man will be nixed? Maybe they'll add a chapter on how the money changers were really the good guys and simply adhering to good capitalistic principles? According to the article they do feel that the bible has become emasculated! The also want to: "Utilize Powerful Conservative Terms: using powerful new conservative terms as they develop;[4] defective translations use the word "comrade" three times as often as "volunteer"; similarly, updating words which have a change in meaning, such as "word", "peace", and "miracle"." "They believe the bible is the exact word of God - Then they change the bible! Pretty presumptuous, hu huh? "I think what God meant to say..." - Bill Hicks So the end result would be a a bible more closely relating to conservative hatred for the rest of the world. Or maybe it's to counter the oft heard claim that the New Testament is too liberal leaning. I'm getting to the point that I think it's a waste of time to try to figure out what the Right's rationale is for any of their recent antics. So the Word of God is out? Ummm, interesting. The original language text of the Bible is thousands of years old. Most translations are based on it alone. No one can change that, but in our world today anyone can attempt to mistranslate it. That proves nothing except we have a world of confused people out there. That proves nothing except we have a world of confused people out there.1. Wasn't trying to "prove" anything 2. Confused people? You betcha! <wink> That includes the critics. of atheism, or as we prefer to call it. REALITY The original language text of the Bible is thousands of years old.Yep. It is old. Most translations are based on it alone.Or the religio/political people that are currently in power. No one can change that,Ha! anyone can attempt to mistranslate it.Or they can invent their own, ala the Mormons. And I'm sure all the many different sects will argue about the meaning of all the other sects. Of course, their interpretation is the right one! LOL! It's been a long time coming. I've always said that the weakest part of the religious debate are the inconsistencies, contradictions, and the false information in the bible. I wonder if they'll take the opportunity to clean that up so they don't look so ignorant and stupid trying to push their mythology? Given a generation or two people will accept the thing as non violate. Considering that this project is being led by Conservapedia I pretty much doubt if the result will be anything closer to whatever the "original" might have been. And does it even make any difference? does it even make any difference?I think not. They are not interested in maintaining historic accuracy. They will want to word it in such a way as to give them more authority over people today. There is that embarrassing problem of trying to control people using the cliff notes of bronze age goat herders. I'm sure they'll want to remove as much ambivalence as they can. Headline: Conservative Bible Project Confirms Islam's Claim: Bible is a Corrupt Version of God's Word. The bible, like the religion it is supposed to support, are simple tools to be exploited by those whose greed /vice is power. So the bible will be yet again changed by those who wish to exploit it as a symbol of power. And most bibles are based on the version written by Emperor Constantine of Rome. He was the one who got rid of all women except the evil ones and one mum. |
